Tactics & Loadout Suggestions:

Looting & Cash:

Looting gains you health and wealth. Only loot when safe to though - you can be left a sitting duck whilst rifling through a corpses pockets. Beware of booby trapped corpses, if you get killed by one it's sometimes better to only loot your own body if you get killed unless you have the appropriate item to counteract the booby trap. Regarding cash, I've found it's not really an issue how much cash you make - you'll earn enough to buy weapons without any issues as you level up.

Melee:

Melee can be hit or miss in this game (groan...) - the yellow "melee" indicator pops up just before you get into effective range, so make sure that you are in range. Running backwards can be an effective way of avoiding getting hit and killed, especially in free aim sessions.

Reload:

Remember to reload after firing your weapon. The amount of times I've died after forgetting to do so is getting to be numerous. Shoot, get the kill and reload if safe to do so!

Loadouts:

Aiming:

Soft Lock:
Just like Red Dead, you can get the headshot by aiming and pushing up on the right stick - but it has a different "feel" and is a bit slower to move upwards. Personally I find higher aiming speed helps with soft lock games.

Free Aim:

Settings:

Aim Speed:
You can adjust your aiming speed in both the x & y axis (remember: X to the left & Y to the sky)

Aim Acceleration:
The higher the setting, the faster your reticle speeds up when you're sweeping your aim to another position

Reticle Settings:
Default: A white dot reticle that changes red when over an enemy.
Weapon Specific: A reticle that changes based on the weapon Max is carrying
All White: Similar to Default, but without the transition to red when over a target.

"Hidden" Settings:
When you're in a MP game, if you go into the pause menu & scroll down, there are 2 additional settings to be found:
"Target Tracking": Your aim moves with the target automagically. More noticeable in soft lock - in free aim, it's incredibly subtle and barely noticeable in my experience.
"Target Slowdown": This option slows down your reticle when it nears an enemy to supposedly make it easier to aim on them.

+1 mate good stuff but I disagree an your soggy lettuce description for the Tin Can..... It also puts a red dot on the mini map and I've lost count of how many cans I've thrown into the corner of a room and waited (not camped  ;)) opposite and ambushed opponents  ;D

Holy crap, that is awesome. I thought the tin can was there as a joke. Didn't realize that it had a use.

Great guide Psy and I basically agree with all of your assessments. But I have to side with Ozy on the tub can issue. For a light loadout in a smaller match it's awesome! You can throw it a long way into a corner and then bushwhack anyone coming to kill the red dot on their screen. In a free aim one on one against scteing meat, I made it to sudden death with sneaky use of the can. He won! But against him I had no chance otherwise. He then called me a cheeky bugger. (Meat is so British that he's unable to stand up and leave a room without first saying "right!")

The other comment I have is on the slippery character burst. I've had it since day one and used it a lot in the early days when I mainly played gang wars. It's perfect for a grab round and using a level 3 at the start of a passage round and giving your whole team unlimited stamina to race through all 5 checkpoints can be a game changer. It also made the Maxy Pharlap assassination target run a piece of cake. Lace up your sneakers at the bus depot and just sprint around the perimeter of the map. Easy peasy.

Unfortunately it's not too usefull in deathmatches. :(

MP3 is broken for me now as well. Connection and compatibility issues galore. Never been a fan of the game, thus I haven't played it enuff to really get to know the load outs. I really wanted to get good at tossing the can too :). Alas, it shan't work out.

LMAO.... "Bushwhack"  ;D sometimes I think your more Aussie than me!!

Oh and after all the gang wars we've played how come this is the first time I've heard about the slippery character tactic??? More team tech sessions are needed I think  ;)

I agree! That burst is nice because at level 3 it gives the entire team unlimited stamina until death, drops a smoke bomb on you and flash grenades all visible enemies. Pretty handy! Not as rare as the unstoppable burst though. I've never been killed by it and I've gotten messages asking wtf it was when I've used it. It's nice, but man does it slow you to a crawl!
